After the overwhelming success of last year’s events, Leicester Pride is set to return to the city on Saturday 4th September 2010. Building on the momentum from Leicester Pride 2009, this year will be much bigger and better thanks to growing support and recognition from Leicester City Council and the LGBT community.
A more direct route is in negotiation, taking the parade through the heart of the city to the festival site on Belgrave gate which is set to expand out into the surrounding streets as more market stalls and fairground attractions are added.
After consultation with members of the Leicester Pride Facebook groups, the committee are proud to announce that this year’s events will have a “fairy tale” theme throughout. The build up to the big day officially starts on Saturday June 5th 2010 with scene-wide “Alice in Wonderland” themed events taking place at each of the gay venues in the city.
The pride committee is also expanding with new roles to meet the challenges ahead. They are currently looking for motivated individuals who are interested in giving something back to the LGBT community. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to visit the “Get involved” section on the new website.
