Thirty people on Greenpeace ship have been jailed for two months. Russian officials say charges will be filed soon against the activists. SHARECONNECT 29 TWEET COMMENTEMAILMORE MOSCOW (AP) Russia’s main investigative agency on Monday accused Greenpeace activists of posing a “real threat” to the security of personnel on an offshore drilling platform in the Arctic, another indication that Moscow plans to prosecute the jailed environmentalists for their protest. All 30 people who were on a Greenpeace ship, including two journalists, have been jailed for two months pending an investigation into their Sept. 18 protest at the platform owned by state-controlled energy giant Gazprom. The Investigative Committee said charges would be filed soon, but did not specify whether it was still considering charging the activists with piracy, a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison. The investigators said the Greenpeace ship, the Arctic Sunrise, had violated the 500-meter security zone around the platform and that it was carrying equipment whose purpose was still unclear. In a statement, the investigators said they had seized some equipment and documents from the ship as part of their ongoing search. Greenpeace Russia denied the ship had ventured closer than the 500 meters established by Russian and international law. The inflatable boats used by activists to scale the offshore platform did violate this zone, but posed no danger, the organization said. Copyright 2013 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.

President Barack Obama. The United States also rejected a Russian proposal to include a line in a U.N. Security Council resolution saying that Syria’s plan to scrap chemical weapons was an important step toward a WMD-free Middle East, Lavrov told Kommersant. Russia has been Syria’s biggest diplomatic ally during the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad that has killed more than 100,000 people. Speaking to the U.N. General Assembly on Monday, Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem called for the creation of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction but said it was “unachievable without the accession of Israel”. Arab states such as Egypt and Bahrain have made similar calls in speeches at the General Assembly. But U.S. and Israeli officials see Iran’s nuclear activity as the main proliferation threat in the Middle East. They have said a nuclear-free zone could not be a reality until there was broad Arab-Israeli peace and Tehran curbed its nuclear program, which they fear is aimed at developing nuclear weapons capability. Washington remained committed to working toward a Middle East zone free of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and their delivery systems, the U.S. envoy to the U.N.

Its really decimated whole cities there. Krokodil is made up of several ingredients easily accessed at home improvement stores and pharmacies. The base of the drug is usually codeine. Pure codeine is extracted from its pill form and adulterated with chemicals to create a liquid substance that is later injected into the veins. The types of chemicals used by manufacturers vary. Some of the chemicals theyve used are very dangerous, LoVecchio said. Theyve used things like hydrochloric acid. Some have used paint thinners, gasoline and other stuff that includes phosphorous. The acidity of the chemicals causes the bodys fat and skin to burn off and die, LoVecchio said. The presence of chemicals also makes the body more prone to infection. Immediate effects include visible scarring on the skin. Long-term effects are much worse. Once you start using this drug on a daily basis, you could die within two years, he said. Other reports are that death is probably due to overwhelming infection. Your body cant fight the infection. Leslie Bloom, CEO of DrugFreeAZ.org, said that despite the drugs dire consequences, krokodil use is not an outbreak to be fearful of. We dont want the public to be alarmed, she said. What we want them to be is aware that this is a trend.

According to Russia Tyre Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2018, the tyre market in Russia is expected to grow at the CAGR of approximately 13%, in terms of volume. Russia is the one of the best performing economies in Europe and the country’s disposable income is increasing fast. However, the vehicle density in Russia is very low, with only 290 cars per 1000 people during 2012. The low density of vehicles in the country indicates scope for growth. As a result, several foreign automobile manufacturers are focusing on setting up new plants in Russia or expanding their existing production capacity. The growth in the country’s automotive industry would directly boost the tyre market. The tyre market growth will continue to be driven by the passenger car segment, which accounted for the majority share in Russia’s tyre market during 2012. The tyre market is also witnessing high growth in the OTR segment as a result of growth in Russia’s mining industry. Several companies such as Bridgestone, Belshina, Yokohama, Nizhnekamskshina, etc. are increasing their focus on this segment to capitalize the market potential. Key Topics Covered: 2.
